Chiemgau – He was already dreaming of retiring on Mallorca and was looking for a worthy successor as head chef.
Now the huge shock: great concern for star chef Heinz Winkler (73). According to BILD information, he suddenly collapsed in his private home in Aschau on Friday evening.

Paramedics drove to Winkler’s house with blue lights flashing. The emergency doctor was initially able to resuscitate the star chef at the “Residenz” in Aschau. Winkler took the ambulance to a clinic in Rosenheim.

There, however, his health deteriorated dramatically.
Yesterday evening, the closest family circle confirmed to BILD that Winkler has multi-organ failure. He was placed in an induced coma.
“He is closer to death than life,” said relatives. His son Alexander (43) from his first marriage should be with him in the clinic. Since 2012, the son has been the restaurant manager in the “Residenz”.

Winkler still had so many plans, so many dreams. “I would like to retire immediately, to Mallorca. In the winter in my apartment there, in the summer in my house,” Winkler said in a BILD interview just a few days ago.
The “residence” in Aschau is his life’s work. A 5 star hotel with a 2 star restaurant. He paid off the million-euro financing loan for his star temple (bought in 1988 for 14 million Deutschmarks, around 7 million euros) two years ago.
In 1978, Winkler succeeded chef de cuisine Eckart Witzigmann, the chef of the century, who is now enjoying his retirement at Lake Tegernsee, in the Munich restaurant “Tantris” – and remained in the Eichbauer family’s temple of pleasure until 1991.
His restaurant is popular with celebrities from business, politics and culture – they are all now worried about their favorite chef from Chiemsee.
