FC Porto crowned champion for the 30th time

FC Porto will have to think about buying a new trophy cabinet as it is awash in titles. The football club was indeed crowned champion of Portugal for the 30th time in its history by winning Saturday in Lisbon on the ground of Benfica (1-0), which finished 3rd in the standings behind Sporting, previous winner.

Nigerian Zaidu Sanusi scored the decisive goal in a stoppage-time counterattack. 16 lengths ahead of Benfica.

Objective: the double Cup-championship

The first two thus obtain direct access to the group stage of the Champions League, while Benfica, who have reached the quarter-finals of C1 this season, are qualified for the third preliminary round of the queen competition of European football.

The year is prosperous for Porto. Before their first defeat in the league this season, conceded at Braga on the 31st day (1-0), the club and its coach Sérgio Conceiçao set a new record of invincibility in the Portuguese league with 58 games without defeat. In addition, Porto will be able to cap off their season with a double, as the club from northern Portugal will face 16th-placed Tondela in the Portuguese Cup final scheduled for May 22.
