Tuchel: Müller has to earn his place against Madrid
With two goals, Thomas Müller played a key role in FC Bayern’s victory against Union Berlin. In order to play against Real Madrid, the original Bavarian has to improve.
Tuchel was without Müller in the two Champions League games against Arsenal. This means that the 2014 soccer world champion still has to wait for his 150th premier class game. But he received a promise from Tuchel during the week: “Now there are two more, then he’ll get it.” Now the coach no longer sounded so confident: “But he still has to earn it,” demanded the 50-year-old.
The veteran himself knows that Müller has to improve in order to play against the Royals on April 30th. “Unfortunately, the coach saw the game the same way I did. The goals were good. But there were also a few mistakes. There “Not everything went perfectly,” Müller criticized himself. He wasn’t that happy with the game. “I wasn’t able to keep or pass that many balls into dangerous areas. But I’ve never let anything like that get me down.”
In the end, it doesn’t matter at all whether he’s in the starting line-up against Real or not. “It’s important that we bring a team that wins. Who gets how many minutes is not important,” said Müller and reported on his state of mind: “It’s fun. I’m feeling good and my body is working.” The offensive player then sent a message to Tuchel: “I look forward to every game in which I can start.”
