FC Bayern is getting started again, Manuel Neuer is pushing ahead with his program even before the official start of training. The comeback plan is exciting.

Soccer national goalkeeper On the day before the official start of FC Bayern Munich’s preparations, Manuel Neuer pushed ahead with the work for his comeback – and had a visit from Uli Hoeneß.

Neuer completed an individual session on Säbener Strasse in Munich with goalkeeper coach Michaelrechner. Recordings from the Sky TV channel show Honorary President Hoeneß standing behind the goal and speaking briefly to the captain of the record German soccer champions.

Neuer has not played a game for Bayern since breaking his lower leg in December. By the time the Bundesliga starts on August 18, the keeper wants to be number 1 in the Munich goal again. “I’m doing great. My leg has gotten better, more time has passed,” Neuer recently told the “Münchner Merkur/tz” media group.

Longer downtime?

It remains to be seen whether the national keeper can complete the entire program at the training camp on Saturday at Tegernsee. Most recently, it was speculated that Neuer still needed time and would train more individually. Much will depend on how the 37-year-old’s body responds to increases in exertion.

The first stars such as Neuer, national player Serge Gnabry or newcomer Konrad Laimer have already completed medical checks and individual training, and the ensemble will be completed this Thursday. After examinations and performance tests, the entire squad will train for the first time in Munich on Saturday before going to Rottach-Egern.

After the team presentation on July 23 in the Allianz Arena, the Munich team will jet off to Asia from July 24 to August 3. Three friendlies against Manchester City, Liverpool FC and Kawasaki Frontale will be played there. The first title of the season is on August 12 in the Supercup duel with cup winners RB Leipzig. The champions start the Bundesliga season on August 18 at Werder Bremen.
