FC Bayern announces record sales – breaking the sound barrier for the group with 854.2 million euros

Uli Hoeneß once again gave the direction. The long-time patriarch of FC Bayern set the right tone with a warm hug for coach Thomas Tuchel, and indeed: an extremely harmonious “party conference” followed.

The German industry leader presented itself as a closed family and, true to its motto “Mia san mia”, poked fun at its many opponents between record numbers and a little self-congratulation.

The German record champions, President Herbert Hainer said a few hours after goal phenomenon Harry Kane’s next gala, are “where FC Bayern belongs – at the top. Sportily, economically and socially!”

Jan-Christian Dreesen called out to the 1,780 members in the Rudi Sedlmayer Hall in his first speech as CEO: “Is that enough for us? Not at all!”

Bayern are aiming for Wembley Stadium

The CEO exuberantly stated “our big goal”: “The championship – and of course London. We are striving with all our might to get back to Wembley Stadium!” So into the final of the Champions League, into the living room of English captain Harry Kane, whom Dreesen hailed as a “sports star and gentleman” who “fits in perfectly with FC Bayern’s DNA.”

Plus, Kane is a real cash cow. In the first weekend alone after his signing, 20,000 (!) jerseys with his name were sold, as CFO Michael Diederich reported.

This item did not yet appear in his proud balance sheet for the 2022/23 season, but there were dream numbers “that every Bundesliga team and many top international clubs envy us,” as Hainer enthused.

FC Bayern increases record sales by over 100 million euros

The previous record sales from 2019 were increased by over 100 million euros to 854.2 million, and the profit after taxes was 35.7 million euros. An incredible 536 million euros are now lying dormant in the legendary fixed-term deposit account. Diederich sees Bayern as a “lighthouse in the entire football world”.

The total personnel expenses, i.e. the expenses for all employees and employees of FC Bayern München AG – primarily the players – amounted to an impressive 385.6 million euros.

Hainer cleverly cleared away the few controversial topics (change in statutes, Nagelsmann, Kahn, Salihamidzic) in his opening speech – not without threatening defender Noussair Mazraoui after his Palestine post, in line with the wishes of many fans: “Something like that must not happen again!”

Dreesen attacks experts and money clubs

None of the bosses made the possible appointment of Max Eberl as the new sports director, which could be decided on Monday at the supervisory board meeting, an issue.

They would rather bask in their recent success over rivals Dortmund or deal it out against their many opponents. Dreesen complained about the clubs “where the money feels like it’s coming from the socket”, Hainer attacked “these experts” who “can take a real contrarian” like the other day from coach Tuchel.

He appeared in good spirits with stars Jamal Musiala, Matthijs de Ligt and Raphael Guerreiro and was greeted with warm applause by the fans.

Hainer: “We have big plans”

“I love every second here,” he said and even dared to take a furtive glance at his predecessor Robert Lewandowski’s “eternal” Bundesliga record.

Sure, the incredible record of 41 goals is “still a bit far away,” admitted Kane, who has 17 goals after his brace: “But when we get to April and close to the end of the season, then it’s definitely something that I’m trying to reach out.”

Kane surpasses last year’s goalscoring mark

Nobody in the Bayern family doubts that Kane has what it takes.

The 30-year-old has already scored more times than shooting kings Niclas Füllkrug and Christopher Nkunku last season – in just eleven games! In over 60 years of the Bundesliga, no one has achieved that before him, not even Lewandowski.
