Instead of Rakuten, Spotify is apparently to be emblazoned on the jerseys of FC Barcelona in the future. In addition, the platform is to receive the naming rights to the stadium.

The music streaming platform Spotify will apparently replace Rakuten as shirt sponsor of FC Barcelona. The Camp Nou naming rights should also go to the Swedish company.

As Catalunya Radio reported, there are already initial negotiations between the two parties. Spotify is set to grace the Catalans’ kits in place of Japanese retailer Rakuten from next season.

As part of the deal, Barca’s Camp Nou stadium is set to be renamed ‘Camp Nou Spotify’. Details about the duration of the contract are not yet known, but Barca are expected to collect between 60 and 65 million euros a year.

Spotify and Barcelona: Talks probably started in October

Spotify is said to have previously negotiated a partnership with Arsenal FC. After the talks were unsuccessful, negotiations with FC Barcelona began last October.

Apparently, Barca also had offers from some other companies but ultimately chose Spotify as their new sponsor. Rakuten had previously announced that it would not extend the contract, which runs until June 30, 2022.
