The fact that so many Frankfurt fans were allowed to go to the Camp Nou for the Europa League game repelled the Barca ultras. There should even be a boycott.

The Ultras of FC Barcelona have announced a boycott of the game for the home game against FC Cadiz on Monday evening. The reason for this is what happened in the Europa League against Eintracht Frankfurt, when around 30,000 SGE fans were at Camp Nou.

The Ultra group “Grada d’Animacio”, which normally cheers on their team from behind the goal, announced in a letter that they would not come to the stadium in protest against the events against Frankfurt on Thursday. The match against Cadiz will kick off at 9pm on Monday.

There were already initial signs of dissatisfaction against Eintracht when the fans left the area behind the goal orphaned in the first ten minutes after the break.

Barca coach Xavi: ‘We’re checking what happened’

Around 30,000 Frankfurt fans had put the Catalan city in a state of emergency even before kick-off. In the stadium, tens of thousands of Eintracht supporters among the total of 79,468 spectators created a fabulous atmosphere, numerous fans of Hessen had also bought tickets outside the away block.

“We’re checking what happened there,” said Barca coach Xavi after the game. “I expected 70,000 or 80,000 Barca fans but that wasn’t the case. We want to know what happened. If we play at home it can’t happen,” said Xavi.

Barca’s president Joan Laporta was also outraged. “I’m concerned because what happened was a disgrace that must not be repeated,” he said, announcing a reappraisal: “We will take action because that is shameful.”

According to Laporta, the tickets will be personalized in the future. An analysis showed that 37,746 tickets were sold to season ticket holders, 34,440 to the public and only 5,000 to Eintracht fans, he told the Catalan TV station TV3. He now wants to check why significantly more tickets went to Frankfurter than planned. The personalization of the tickets affects all fans, “but we don’t want something like this to happen again in this stadium”.
