FC Annecy promoted to L2, Villefranche Beaujolais in play-off

FC Annecy made the suspense last but avoided the disaster scenario. Long held in check by Sedan for the 34th and final day of the National, the Haut-Savoyards could have been overtaken on the wire in the standings by Villefranche Beaujolais, clear winner of Bourg-en-Bresse (4-1).

The Annecians finally tipped the match in the last quarter of an hour to keep their second place, synonymous with a direct rise in Ligue 2, thanks to a double from the former Niçois Alexy Bosetti (75th, 78th sp), and accompany Laval , beaten 2-3 this Friday in Orleans but already crowned champion, towards the higher level.

Villefranche Beaujolais will try to imitate them by playing the play-off against the 18th in L2. At the bottom of the table, Sète ensured its maintenance by winning 2-1 on the ground of its direct opponent Bastia-Borgo. The Corsican club therefore joins Chambly, Créteil and Boulogne-sur-Mer, all relegated to National 2.
