A mountaineer died on Friday falling fifty meters while climbing the Spijeoles peak alone, which culminates at more than 3,000 meters between Haute-Garonne and Hautes-Pyrénées, we learned from the rescue services in mountain.
“The starting point is a hiker who warned us that he had seen a person unscrew on the south-eastern slope of the peak” which culminates at 3,065 m, in the upper valley of Oô, explained to AFP a member of the CRS of Luchon, who intervened on the spot following the report.
“We could only note the death which occurred following a fall of about fifty meters”, he underlined, indicating that the victim was a man of “forty years from Haute-Garonne”. The man’s body was airlifted to Bagnères-de-Luchon
According to The Midi Dispatchthe Saint-Gaudens public prosecutor’s office would have requested the opening of an investigation to determine the circumstances of the accident.
