In the Netflix comedy “Family Switch,” Jennifer Garner and Ed Helms swap bodies with their children as parents. The first trailer has now been released, which also shows Matthias Schweighöfer in the role of a passionate dog trainer.
Just in time for Christmas, the Netflix comedy “Family Switch” with Jennifer Garner, Ed Helms and Matthias Schweighöfer starts on the streaming provider – a traditional Switch film, but different.
“Family Switch”: body swap on a large scale
The new film by Joseph McGinty Nichol (“Charlie’s Angels”) is about the Walkers, an actually harmonious family who, however, get into trouble more and more often as their two children get older and towards puberty. Her only wish: to simply be understood by the other family members. Right now, at Christmas time, mother Jess has nothing more in her heart than to finally restore the family’s old cohesion.

When the family meets a fortune teller shortly afterwards, who overhears the arguments and hears the desire to finally be able to understand the others, the world turns upside down the next day. Parents and children swapped roles, just as they had wished the day before – and on an incredibly important day for them. A promotion, a college interview, a record deal and a soccer audition are on the agenda – events in which parents and children now have to shine in reversed roles. In addition, the Walkers’ baby also swapped bodies – with the family dog. And suddenly runs away.

The idea behind switch films is not a new one, especially not for leading actress Garner, who demonstrated her skills in this segment almost 20 years ago in “30 Overnight”. But the fact that an entire family is swapping roles definitely brings a breath of fresh air to the “Switch” business – and promises to be very entertaining. The idea for the film is based on the novel “Bedtime For Mommy” by New York Times bestselling author Amy Krouse Rosenthal, which reverses the typical bedtime routine by having a little girl suddenly put her parents to bed.
The new Netflix comedy has a star-studded cast with Jennifer Garner and Ed Helms.

In addition to Garner, Helms and Schweighöfer, who plays the Walkers’ neighbor and dog trainer, stars Emma Myers (“Wednesday”) and Brady Noon (“Good Boys”) as children and Broadway star Rita Moreno as a fortune teller.
“Family Switch” will be available to stream on Netflix from November 30, 2023.
