The father, if you look at him in legal history, is a strangely colorful figure. In the early days of the Federal Republic, with family law influenced by Christian and moral principles, the general principle was: the main thing is to be married! For the father of a child – if he was not the mother’s husband – the path to fatherhood was almost impossible; his existence was initially not even provided for in the relevant paragraphs. With the modernization of family law, the social family became more important. But it wasn’t easy for him here either. If family is where care is provided and responsibility is assumed, then anyone who bases their parental rights solely on genes also easily falls into the role of troublemaker.
