Many families may not be able to take advantage of the social benefits they are entitled to because of bureaucratic hurdles. Minister Paus wants to change that with the planned basic child security.

Federal Minister for Family Affairs Lisa Paus promotes the planned Basic child protection now strengthened as an administrative modernization project. “We in the coalition introduced the law together – (FDP Finance Minister) Christian Lindner, also (SPD Labor Minister) Hubertus Heil and I -,” said the Green politician in the ZDF “Heute Journal” about it Project to bundle services for children from low-income families. “It’s not always easy, but what unites us is that that’s exactly what we want: We want to finally make this administration modern, we want to digitize it.”

There shouldn’t be a new authority, but: “We’re strengthening the family budget,” said Paus. “Through digitalization, we enable families to be actively addressed when they are entitled to additional services.” The background is that many families may not take advantage of the social benefits to which they are entitled due to complicated bureaucratic application procedures. “And that’s why I’m confident that we’ll be able to carry out the discussion that we’ve been having for several weeks and months now and get to the point where we can finally discuss the law,” said Paus.

The Green Minister and the FDP, who initially found the project too expensive and then far too bureaucratic, are the main people arguing about basic child welfare. The project is intended to bundle previous benefits such as child benefit, benefits from citizen’s benefit for children and the child allowance.
