Fake parcel delivery men scam elderly people

End game for the crooks who stole from the elderly. Four men, aged 22 to 39, were arrested, Sunday and Monday, by investigators from the 2nd judicial police district who placed them in police custody, learns 20 minutes from sources close to the case. They are suspected of having attacked around ten victims in Paris between October 10 and November 5.

“They were quite organized,” a police source told us. The perpetrators went to the homes of their victims, aged between 75 and 93, and posed as package deliverers. One of them explained to them that they had to pay delivery costs, payable by credit card. He presented them with a fake payment terminal on which they entered their secret code. Finally, the fake delivery man told them that he had got the wrong package and assured that he had to go and get the correct one from his truck. In reality, he took the opportunity to flee in a vehicle, driven by one of his accomplices. He took his victim’s bank card with him.

A trial on December 27

At the end of their investigations, the police uncovered 13 facts and 9 victims whose average age is 86 years old. The suspects, aged 22, 24, 29 and 39, were arrested in Seine-et-Marne and Val-d’Oise. Investigators seized nearly 4,000 euros in cash and a luxury car. In total, the damage is estimated at just over 11,000 euros. At the end of their custody, the four men were brought before the court to be tried in immediate appearance.

Finally, they will be judged for “theft by deception to the detriment of vulnerable people” and “scams or attempted frauds” on December 27 by the 16th chamber. One of the four defendants was placed in detention pending this hearing. The other three were placed under judicial supervision.
