The man from the Bad Bramstedt area is accused of supporting the so-called “Imperial Group” since the beginning of 2022, the Hamburg prosecution said. He is also due to appear before the Hanseatic Higher Regional Court for violating the weapons law.

The aim of the “Imperial Group” is to replace the free-democratic basic order of the Federal Republic with an authoritarian government system modeled on the Constitution of the German Empire of 1871.

According to the public prosecutor’s office, members and supporters of the group are said to have planned, among other things, to enter Russian territorial waters by ship and to contact Russian President Putin in order to secure his military and political support in the establishment of a new state.
