The Attorney General wants to attract cases from the “Reichsbürger” milieu more often. A man who is said to have hit a police officer and then accelerated must now answer.

The federal prosecutor’s office has brought charges against a so-called Reich citizen. The man should answer, among other things, for attempted murder before the Stuttgart Higher Regional Court, as the Karlsruhe authorities announced on Monday. On February 7, in the southern Baden district of Lörrach, he was drunk and got into a traffic check and hit a police officer.

The federal prosecutor’s office, which is mainly responsible for investigating terrorism, took over the case in June because of the “particular importance of the case”. A few weeks later, Attorney General Peter Frank announced that he would like to take on more cases from the scene in the future. The followers are increasingly violent and also use firearms. “We are therefore trying to exploit the full range of our legal responsibilities,” he said at his annual press conference in July.

The federal prosecutor’s office said that the accused denied the existence of the Federal Republic of Germany and did not recognize the sovereign powers of its representatives. “Out of this attitude” he escaped control. According to the information, the German had accelerated even though the policeman was lying on his stomach on the hood. When he steered to the side, he finally fell onto the road and sustained serious injuries, especially his head. The man was arrested after a chase and has been in custody ever since.
