Extensive drug trafficking dismantled, 13 people arrested and prosecuted

Thirteen people were arrested as part of an operation to fight against a major cannabis traffic raging in Ille-et-Vilaine, announces Philippe Astruc, public prosecutor of Rennes. This traffic resold cannabis, cocaine and ecstasy in the Rennes metropolis, via the Snapchat social network.

Conducted jointly in Loire-Atlantique and in the Côtes d’Armor, a major police and gendarmerie intervention led to the seizure on Monday of 3.5 kg of cannabis resin, 378 g of herbal cannabis, 269 ecstasy tablets, 21 g of cocaine, MDMA powder, approximately 10,000 euros in cash, as well as a gun and cartridges.

The cannabis came from the Côtes d’Armor and Nantes

A farmhouse worth 115,000 euros, located at Guenroc (Côtes d’Armor) was also confiscated. It served as a place for planting cannabis. Another part of the goods was purchased from a supplier in the Nantes region.

Placed in police custody, the 13 suspects will all be prosecuted for their involvement. Three were sentenced on Friday as part of a expedited plea bargain to sentences “ranging from 2 years suspended probation to 10 months’ imprisonment with immediate incarceration”, indicates Philippe Astruc. Four will be tried in March for drug trafficking and criminal association. Six others will be tried in March 2024.

In addition, 13 network customers were also prosecuted, said the prosecutor.
