iMazing reaches version 3.0, also supports Vision Pro

After a lengthy beta phase, a new version of iMazing is available for download. The app is version 3 from the Swiss manufacturer DigiDNA Available immediately for macOS and Windows and offers a revised interface including numerous new functions. iMazing serves as a universal tool for Apple mobile devices and manages iPhones, iPads, Apple TV and iPod – and now also Vision Pro. It offers more features than Apple provides on board in the Finder (or the Apple tools under Windows).

The device screen has been revised, which now also has a grid view, the device overview with detailed data has been revised and provided with quick actions and an improved data section allows the extraction and viewing of media, news and other content. With the new “Discover” tab you can look at functions that you didn’t know about yet. iMazing 3 also features a new Storage view that details which file types are taking up the most storage on the mobile device.

There are also said to be improvements in battery and backup management – battery cycles, temperature and capacity of the battery can be displayed and snapshot management when backing up has become clearer. For users who like it, iMazing can now also be switched to night mode, which is also available under Windows.

iMazing is the first app to make it outside of the Apple Configurators allows you to set up the Vision Pro from your Mac. This is done a connection via WLAN, alternatively via the developer strap with USB-C. Exciting: You can also bring files directly to the headset using iMazing, for example to play videos. This option does not currently exist with on-board resources because the Vision Pro lacks a Finder connection, which is why users switch to iCloud, among other things.

In addition, it should also be possible to install apps directly on the Vision Pro with iMazing 3, as DigiDNA boss Jérôme Bédat told Mac & i – even with Apple IDs from other countries, which is impossible on the device itself. as it only allows the US WochApp Store. However, we were initially unable to try out the function, and it is also conceivable that Apple will quickly block it again. iMazing 3 is available to purchase new for $40. If previous version 2 was purchased after October 20, 2020, the app only costs half.
