Better climate protection – but how?
One of the big issues in the election campaign is better climate protection. Green parliamentary group leader Haßelmann said her party had presented “by far the most ambitious climate protection program”. The Union and the SPD would not have delivered in the joint years of government. The coal phase-out by 2030 is important.
SPD General Secretary Klingbeil recalled that the SPD-led Environment Ministry negotiated the climate protection agreement in Paris. It is now important to drastically advance the expansion of renewable energies. To do this, the construction of wind turbines would have to be approved much faster, photovoltaics should be mandatory and the power lines would have to be built so that the energy arrives where it is needed.
Paul Ziemiak made it clear that it was important “to move forward as quickly as possible”. Planning and building law would have to become much more efficient and faster. He suggested building more wind turbines on motorways because there was no resistance there. In addition, the construction of solar roofs should become affordable for all citizens.
