That was close!
Ex-jungle candidate Claudia Effenberg (58) now reveals that she collapsed at home shortly before Christmas and was in danger of losing her life. It is only thanks to her husband that nothing worse happened. She told BILD: “Yes, it was a pulmonary embolism. I’m still alive! And I’m grateful.“
The drama happened just before Christmas. On December 16th, she suddenly collapsed unconscious at home, said the ex-professional footballer’s wife Stefan Effenberg (55) on Monday evening on “RTL Exclusiv”. Luckily her husband was at home. He immediately called the ambulance.
In the hospital, the doctors diagnosed a double thrombosis and immediately decided: emergency surgery. There would have been acute danger to life. She told BILD “Both lungs were affected.”
But in this difficult moment she was not alone. Her husband Stefan was with her. The dirndl designer claims she has never seen such panic on his face. “That took our relationship to another level.” She is certain: her husband saved her life!
Loud Claudia Effenberg’s hip operation last year was the trigger for this drama. Afterwards she didn’t move enough and this could lead to a thrombosis.
A year ago Claudia Effenberg made headlines with her participation in the RTL Jungle camp. At that time she was in seventh place. Afterwards she repeatedly complained about health problems. Two months after the camp, she was still suffering from a skin disease that was caused by a virus that she caught in Australia.
In June she told BILD that she had been suffering from hip pain for a long time. However, she initially thought this was an infection that had arisen from a three-and-a-half-hour hike in the “jungle camp”. Effenberg at the time: “Stupid as I was, I didn’t go for a computer tomography straight away, but kept going to the doctor so that he could give me cortisone injections. According to the motto: It will somehow work again. At first it kept happening.” After a CT scan, it turned out that she had a hairline fracture in her hip.
