Everyday life in Germany: Batman, Oscar Wilde and the “last generation” society

One can learn from Oscar Wilde that life imitates art. However, one often does not know exactly what is life and what is art.

The other day after ironing I thought about Oscar Wilde. On the TV screen – I usually watch older series while I’m ironing, burned to DVD because I’m an older man – an episode of “Gotham” was playing. Between 2014 and 2019, five seasons of this series were produced, in which Bruce Wayne, Batman’s alter ego, is a teenager. Many who play a role in Batman’s later life, from police chief Jim Gordon to the big criminal Penguin and Alfred the butler, appear in “Gotham”. The series is exciting, well done and very entertaining.
