King Charles III reveals the scenery

King Charles III and Queen Camilla visited Liverpool. There the Royals unveiled the stage design for the upcoming ESC.
The Eurovision Song Contest is taking place in Liverpool this year. In the run-up to the event, King Charles III. (74) and his wife, Queen Camilla (75), unveiled the stage design for the ESC on site. The Royals visited the M&S Bank Arena in the English city to switch on the lights on the stage after a countdown with a symbolic button push together.
“Camilla saved the day”
Both the official Instagram channel of the event as well as the royals on the platform. In the comments, several users joked that Charles slipped his finger during the reveal while Camilla pressed the button with her palm. “It’s okay, Charles. The button wasn’t real anyway, mate,” it says. Or: “Camilla saved the day.”
How reports the BBC, the Royals also spoke to Mae Muller (25) as part of the unveiling, who is competing for the United Kingdom this year with “I Wrote a Song”. Camilla told the singer not to “feel any pressure,” while Charles said they were “watching the performance with great interest” and want to cheer on Muller. In addition, the couple also have members of the production team, commentators Rylan Clark (34) and Scott Mills (50) as well as “Ted Lasso” star Hannah Waddingham (48) and Ukrainian singer Julia Sanina (32), two of the co-moderators for the event.
School children shout: “He is our king”
According to British media reports, during the visit to Liverpool there were also “Not our king” protest calls. As the “Daily Mail” writesschoolchildren would have drowned them out with chanting “He is our king”.
The final of the ESC will take place on May 13th. Great Britain has taken over this year’s hosting for last year’s winners, Ukraine. The Ukrainian band Kalush Orchestra won last year, but the event was postponed due to security concerns and planning uncertainties due to the war in Ukraine. Exactly one week before the ESC, on May 6th, King Charles III. and Queen Camilla was crowned in London’s Westminster Abbey.
