The Luxembourg politician Jean Asselborn, the longest-serving foreign minister in the EU, receives the European Prize from the SPD parliamentary group. Asselborn stands “in a special way for a Europe of solidarity and values. He stands up to nationalism and populism on the European level like no other,” said parliamentary group and SPD country leader Florian von Brunn. He praised Asselborn’s foreign policy “in the self-confidence of international social responsibility”. A hybrid event in the state parliament with digital format was scheduled for the award of the European Prize on Friday evening.
