Superstars at the fan festival for the European Football Championship: Ed Sheeran and Nelly Furtado will play on June 12th at Theresienwiese in Munich, two days before the opening game. Mark Forster is also scheduled to perform at the major concert in front of around 90,000 guests, as the organizers announced on Thursday.
Pre-registration for the 95 euro tickets has been running since Wednesday. Advance sales start on March 28th at 10 a.m., only for pre-registered customers, and remaining tickets will be available for free sale from 12 p.m. “Football and music bring people together. This is exactly what strengthens our civil society and our democracy,” said tournament director and soccer world champion Philipp Lahm, who was able to meet Sheeran in advance.
It is another major musical event for the city of Munich. Stars like AC/DC and Taylor Swift have been announced for this summer. And Adele is giving ten concerts in Munich in August. From their appearances alone, the city’s economic department hopes to generate tourism-related sales of more than half a billion euros.
The department announced in a forecast at the end of February that visitors to the six football games in the European Championship could bring in sales of around 144 million euros.
