The final of the 2024 European Football Championship will be held in Berlin. This was announced by the Executive Committee of the European Football Union Uefa. The opening game should therefore take place in Munich. “Start in Munich, final in Berlin: That was the ideal combination back in 2006, at the last major men’s tournament in Germany,” said DFB President Bernd Neuendorf after the decision with a view to the 2006 World Cup in Germany, known as the “summer fairy tale”. .

The EM tournament is to take place in a total of ten German cities – you can see all the planned stadiums in the photo gallery. During the tournament, the arenas will not bear the names of the sponsors, but will be named by Uefa, for example “München Fußball Arena”, “Arena AufSchalke” or “Köln Stadion”. The number of spectators shown is the one officially set for the tournament.

The 2024 European Football Championship will take place in ten German cities

The opening game is scheduled to kick off on June 14, 2024, with the final a month later on July 14. A total of 24 teams should take part in the EM 2024, there should be 51 games. The German team is automatically qualified for the tournament as the host. The draw for the qualifying groups is scheduled for October 9, 2022 in the Festhalle Frankfurt am Main. The six tournament groups are to be drawn in December 2023 in the Hamburg Elbphilharmonie. The media center during the tournament is to be set up in Leipzig.

The German Football Association secured the bid to host the tournament in September 2018 and prevailed against Turkey as a competitor. In 1988, the Federal Republic hosted a men’s football championship for the only time so far, when the Netherlands won. Four games took place in Munich last summer in the pan-European finals.
