European Championship qualification
Kane: Different pressure at Bayern also help for the national team
Harry Kane reports on his first experiences at FC Bayern with the national team. The attacker would also like to benefit from this in the English selection.
“Of course we wanted to win something at Spurs. But if you didn’t win a few games, it wasn’t a disaster. The feeling at Bayern is that you have to win every game,” said Kane during the preparation for England’s European Championship qualifier against Ukraine this Saturday evening in Wroclaw.
The first two games with Munich were won 4-0 in Bremen and 3-1 against Augsburg, but there were still voices who weren’t so happy with the way things went. He enjoyed this different kind of emotion, Kane said during the national team training camp in Birmingham, as the Guardian newspaper reported.
Still without a major international title
Hopefully the experience would help the English national team deal with pressure in certain situations. Kane commented with a smile that the European Championship would take place in Germany and the Champions League final in London’s Wembley Stadium in 2024: “So if someone out there is writing a film… I will try my best to make it happen.”
The 30-year-old explained that he was not jealous of teammates like Kyle Walker, who won the treble with Manchester City last season. “I would be lying if I said that this didn’t hurt a part of me,” said Kane, who is still waiting to win a major international title in his career. He emphasized that other people’s experiences motivate him.
