EU: Criticism of von der Leyen’s unconditional solidarity with Israel – politics

There has been harsh criticism of EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in Brussels for siding with Israel too one-sidedly and unconditionally in the Middle East conflict. Diplomats accused Germany at the weekend of not sticking to the line agreed between European member states and institutions, but of pursuing foreign policy on its own – to the detriment of the EU. A diplomat called von der Leyen’s trip to Israel last Friday a “mistake of strategic proportions.”
