EU Council President Janša spreads anti-Semitic conspiracy legends on Twitter – a few hours before an EU committee sent to Slovenia reports on repression in the country ruled by Janša.

The fact that a top EU politician openly attacks MEPs and uses anti-Semitic conspiracy theories is unprecedented: 226 MEPs are George Soros’ puppets, the Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Janša shared this tweet on Twitter.

The incident is explosive for the entire EU because Janša currently holds the Council Presidency – and thus the presidency among the 27 member states.

George Soros is a survivor of the Holocaust and supports research institutions and civil organizations worldwide through foundations. Anti-Semitic hate attacks by right-wing extremists are directed against him on a regular basis.

Attacks on freedom of the press in the country

Several MEPs have traveled to Slovenia to get an idea of the violations of freedom of the press and freedom of expression in the country. A press conference on their findings is to take place today.

After they were repeatedly attacked by Prime Minister Janša, the President of the European Parliament, David Sassoli, stepped in. He called on Janša to stop provocations, because attacks on members of parliament are also attacks on European citizens.

Janša and his party belong to the Christian Democratic party family in Europe, together with the CDU and CSU. He is accused of putting critical media under pressure.
