The palace published a congratulations via Instagram on the 78th birthday of Swedish King Carl Gustaf.

For the Swedish royal family, April 30th is dedicated to the birthday of Carl XVI. Gustaf (78). The traditional celebration is with a birthday parade, and the royal family appears to the people on the castle balcony. The palace also reported on the special day via Instagram.

On the official website of the royal family Carl Gustaf’s special day was remembered: “Today His Majesty the King turns 78 years old. The King was born on April 30, 1946 at Haga Castle.” A picture was published that shows the king standing in the palace in his uniform with sash and royal medal. But it’s obviously not new, as it was also used for the 77th birthday last year.

In its posting, the palace pointed out that public flags will be raised on the king’s birthday. And further: “The birthday is also an official salute day for the defense forces, with the country’s salute stations saluting today at 12 noon.”

The program for the day of honor had already been announced beforehand. Traditionally, there is a birthday parade for Carl Gustaf in the outer courtyard of the castle. He accepted the congratulations of the defense forces and the public. Children can give flowers to the king.

Who will wave from the balcony?

In addition to Carl Gustaf, his wife Queen Silvia (80) is also expected. Other family members should also appear on the balcony after the ceremony. It remains to be seen whether all three children and eight grandchildren of the royal couple will wave to the people. It is assumed that Crown Princess Victoria (46) and her family will definitely be there – as in previous years. However, it is questionable whether Princess Madeleine (41) will travel specifically from her adopted home of Florida.
