Ethereum DeveloperlaunchA new testnet opened on September 15, dubbed “Holešky,” is expected to be used for staking, infrastructure, and protocol development. According to developer documentation, Sepolia is and will remain the main network for application development.
Initial supply will be 1.6 billion Holešky testnet Ether (HETH) bywillIt was allocated to validators on Holešky launch day to bootstrap the network. According to Ethereum developer Tim Beiko, this is 10 times the amount of Ether on mainnet.
The Goerli testnet has previously been used to test staking, infrastructure, and new protocol developments. Goerli was the oldest Ethereum testnet launched in 2018, and in October Protocol developers startedcomplainthat Goerli’s supply of Goerli ETH is too low to adequately support testing demand, and given the large initial supply of HETH, Holešky expects this to alleviate the issue.
