Erlangen Translation Prize for Christian Filips – Munich

The author and translator Christian Filips received the “Erlangen Literature Prize for Poetry as Translation” this year. The prize, worth 10,000 euros, will be awarded on the occasion of the 43rd Erlangen Poets Festival, which will take place from August 24th to 27th.

Christian Filips is a cultural worker with many facets: he translates from English, French, Icelandic, Italian, Dutch and Hungarian, among others, often in tandem. In addition, the jury also recognizes the commitment of this “post-poet, music dramaturge and director” as a publisher of poetry and translations.

The writer Franz Josef Czernin was also awarded a special prize from the jury, which is endowed with 5,000 euros, for his “poetic-translated complete works”. Both prizes will be awarded on August 24th at the “Kreuz+Quer” in Erlangen.
