Eric Piolle candidate? The mayor of Grenoble will give his answer soon

Will Eric Piolle be a presidential candidate? Mayor EELV of Grenoble has let it be known that he will announce his decision “next week” or in the days that follow, while a book that looks like a program will come out under his pen. “It’s been over a year since I said that I will announce my decision after the regional, so you will see that next week or in the days after,” he said on the Public Senate channel Thursday morning.

Eric Piolle, 48 years old, long anticipated as a competitor of the green MEP Yannick Jadot, specified that he would submit “of course” to a primary of the ecologists if he confirmed these inclinations.

“We cannot look to the future by saying that we are going to end up suffocated”

The mayor of Grenoble publishes on June 30 – “next week”, he underlined – a book of around a hundred pages, the title of which is “Hope! For an ecological republic ”, sounds like that of a program for a possible presidential candidate. “I draw the outlines of a hope, we cannot look to the future by saying that we will end up suffocated” by climate change, commented the mayor of Grenoble. “I’ve been traveling in France for six months every weekend (…) when I meet young people who tell me that they don’t want any more children because we don’t have a future, when It becomes massive like that, it means that there is a hope that is lost (…) I tell them that we can live better, that we can do something else, ”he added.

At the beginning of May, the mayor of Grenoble had already presented what should be in his eyes the first measure of an environmentalist president: a constitutional referendum, relating to several measures such as the abolition of article 16 on full powers or the proportional ballot to legislative.
