Eric Dupond-Moretti announces the opening of a platform listing TIG

The Minister of Justice, Eric Dupond-Moretti, announced on Monday the opening, on October 4, of a platform for lawyers. It will identify the possibilities of community service (TIG), alternatives to prison whose effects he praised “against recidivism”.

From next month, the TIG will now “be able to be pleaded by lawyers”, who will have access to the TIG 360 ° platform and will thus be able to more easily offer judges this “useful sentence, this work for the community” as an alternative to short imprisonment, welcomed the minister in the Yvelines.

A measure presented as effective

This tool lists all the TIG positions available as well as their specificities (geographical location, hours, etc.), in order to facilitate the work of reception structures, judicial authorities and now the 77,000 lawyers in France.

“Before, the magistrate did not even know that he had a position of TIG”, regretted Eric Dupond-Moretti, who praised a measure “effective, which reduces the execution times of sentences”. Thanks to it, the Minister of Justice wishes “to pass from fifteen to sixteen months on average (between the pronouncement of the conviction and the execution of the sentence) to six months”.

30,000 TIG by 2022

In France, more than 30,000 TIG sentences were pronounced in 2019, 23,608 in 2020 “despite the health situation” and more than 16,000 for the first half of 2021, figures the ministry. The TIG 360 ° platform now lists around 21,000 TIG positions and the Ministry of Justice aims to offer “30,000 by 2022″, the Minister of Justice said on Monday, who reiterated his certainty that ” everything in prison is not a solution ”.

“The State does not have the monopoly of the general interest, including on sovereign domains”, underlined for her part Amélie de Montchalin, Minister of Transformation and Public Service, calling on local elected officials to expand TIG’s offering.

His colleague from Justice took the opportunity to joke about “the absence of Valérie Pécresse” at this visit and found “curious” that there was “no TIG in the Region (Ile-de-France)” . The President (Free!) Of the Region announced during the summer that she wanted to create a regional TIG agency.
