Eredivisie: Celebrating Vitesse fans bring down the grandstand

Good luck for some Vitesse fans, who brought down a grandstand after the victory in Nijmegen. The scenes in the VIDEO.

Shock moment for the fans of Vitesse Arnhem! As they were celebrating their 1-0 victory at the NEC Nijmegen and jumping wildly with the players, the grandstand gave way and collapsed. Fortunately, as reported by the Dutch media, no one was injured.

The fans apparently benefited from garbage containers that were located under the front part of the grandstand and thus prevented the masonry from falling even deeper.

“Oh my God. I am very happy that worse things were prevented. There were an incredible number of people in this grandstand,” said Nijmegen managing director Wilco van Scheik.

“Fortunately, as far as is known, no one has been injured,” said Nijmegen’s mayor Hubert Bruls. “I want an investigation into what happened here as soon as possible.” The Goffert Stadium, built in 1939, was only renovated in 2000.
