Eon: Investments in the network and a warning to politics – economy

Minus 23 degrees can be read on the temperature display in the refrigerator compartment. Inside there is a wallbox, a charger for electric cars. In the small room next to it, we investigate how a box behaves at 30 degrees in summer. These torture chambers for electronics are located in a hall in a dreary industrial area in Essen. The electricity company Eon is testing wall boxes, charging stations and heat pumps there. The DAX company is the largest distribution network operator in Germany and Europe – and therefore has to connect these devices and, above all, all the wind and solar parks to the electricity network.
