Enedis agent killed in intervention decorated posthumously

He had come from Gers to help his colleagues from Brittany restore power after the passage of storm Ciaran. On November 4, Frédéric Despaux lost his life while working on the electricity network in Pont-Aven, in Finistère. A 47-year-old father, this Enedis agent will be decorated posthumously by the prefect of Finistère, we learned in the collection of administrative acts spotted by West France.

Wishing to reward “the exemplary dedication” of the agent from Auch, Alain Lespinasse awarded him the gold medal for “act of courage and dedication” posthumously.

Dangerous weather conditions

This technician born in Toulouse was voluntarily intervening within the company’s Rapid Electricity Intervention Force (Fire) when he was electrocuted. It is currently unknown what could have led to this accident, but the weather conditions were particularly trying and dangerous on that November day when storm Domingos hit France, just three days after Ciaran.

A judicial investigation was opened by the Quimper public prosecutor’s office to determine the circumstances of the death. It was entrusted to the Quimperlé gendarmerie company, in conjunction with the labor inspection.
