To fight against school bullying, French schoolchildren will take empathy courses from 2024, a method applied for around twenty years in Scandinavian countries, particularly in Denmark. The Minister of Education, Gabriel Attal, announced on Sunday, on RTLthe launch of an experiment in “1,000 schools” next year.
“We are going to test different organizations,” he explained. “In some schools, it will be one hour, in others two hours during the week. » Gabriel Attal assured that this method had proven “effective” in Denmark to “reduce harassment” and “pacify things at school”. These are “times dedicated to learning about difference, tolerance, kindness, otherness”.
Generalization at the start of the school year
In France, these courses will be taught “from kindergarten”. “At the start of the school year in September 2024, all primary schools in France will do these empathy lessons,” concluded the minister.
