Emmanuel Macron’s speech less followed than his previous speeches

Emmanuel Macron’s announcements were expected. The televised address of the President of the Republic on Monday evening, in particular about vaccination and the health pass was followed by a total of 22.4 million viewers on all the channels which broadcast it, according to data from Médiamétrie communicated Tuesday at AFP.

The presidential statement obtained an overall audience share of 85.7%, all categories of viewers combined. According to figures from Médiamétrie, 9.4 million followed it on TF1, 7.6 million on France 2, and nearly 2.9 million on M6. The detailed figures for the news channels will be available from 11 am today.

A declining speech

This speech recorded a very good score but did not break a record. On March 31, the speech of the President of the Republic was watched by 30.8 million French women and men, or 90.7% of the public.

A figure already down compared to his announcement of the deconfinement schedule delivered on April 13, 2020. Emmanuel Macron then achieved the highest audience score in the history of television in front of 36.73 million viewers, i.e. 94.5% PDA. At the time, this speech was broadcast by eleven different channels.
