Emmanuel Macron “shocked” by “really racist reactions” against Aya Nakamura

It’s a soap opera that has been going on for weeks now. And Emmanuel Macron has not changed his mind. He still wants to see Aya Nakamura sing at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games on July 26.

“I hope Aya Nakamura, if it’s Thomas Jolly’s choice [directeur artistique des cérémonies des jeux], if she accepts it, will be part of the list, declared the President of the Republic during an interview on RMC and BFM TV, this Monday morning in Grand Paris. Because she is one of the great French artists, she is acclaimed throughout the world. »

Of “incomprehension”

Asked about the controversy surrounding the possible presence of the interpreter of Doggy and of Djadjafueled by the right and the far right, Emmanuel Macron spoke of “really racist reactions, that shocked me”.

But the head of state also spoke of “incomprehension” by indicating that Aya Nakamura would not sing alone, if she were to participate in the opening ceremony, but that she would be accompanied by “great lyrical and of variety, French and international”.
