Ten days that the residents endure without end. Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron will travel to Pas-de-Calais on Tuesday “following the exceptional bad weather which affected the region”, announced Monday the Elysée.
Accompanied by his wife, “the Head of State will express his support and that of the entire Nation to the inhabitants affected by the successive episodes of flooding as well as to all the mobilized relief forces”, added the presidency, confirming information from RTL.
A crisis unit in Matignon
At the same time, Matignon announced the convening of an interministerial crisis unit regarding these floods “to coordinate all state services”. It was to meet at the end of the day on Monday, under the leadership of Elisabeth Borne’s chief of staff, the Prime Minister being on a trip to Ireland.
Pas-de-Calais, which has already suffered storm Ciaran on November 2, record floods five days later and intense precipitation on Thursday and Friday, will remain on Tuesday on yellow alert for rain-flooding and waves-submersion.
