Newborn baby found alive in shopping bag in London
The baby is healthy and well. A walker discovered the newborn, who was less than an hour old, while walking her. The police are looking for the mother.
A walker discovered the child while walking in Newham in the east of the British capital on Thursday evening and informed the authorities. It is uninjured and well and is being cared for in a clinic. The police immediately launched a search for the mother.
“We are extremely concerned for her welfare as she will have endured a traumatic ordeal and will require immediate medical attention following birth,” said Chief Superintendent Simon Crick of the Metropolitan Police. Experienced doctors are ready. Crick called on the woman to report immediately by telephone, to the nearest hospital or to a police station.
