Unusual mission for the fire department in Bad Tölz, Upper Bavaria: A man has to be freed from his intimate jewelry. The rescue operation is not that easy.

The The fire brigade had to help a man in Bad Tölz, Upper Bavaria, for around an hour and a half to free his best piece from a metal ring. The emergency department of the local city clinic therefore asked for technical assistance on Tuesday morning, said the volunteer fire department in Bad Tölz. The “Tölzer Kurier” first reported on the operation.

According to the report, the man came to the clinic because his genitals were stuck in the ring. Since the employees there had “not made any progress” with the stainless steel ring, which was estimated to be half a centimeter thick, they called the fire department, said Commander Thomas Fuchsgruber to the “Tölzer Kurier”. The emergency services first had to think about which device they could use to help.

The fire brigade worked with a metal-cutting multi-tool for around an hour and a half “with the greatest possible caution” to remove the ring, said Fuchsgruber. They tried to protect the skin with gauze bandages. At the same time, the metal had to be cooled with water so that it did not get hot when sawing. Three saw blades were used during the operation, said Fuchsgruber.

The fire department was ultimately able to free the man from his predicament unharmed. According to the report, Fuchsgruber said he assumed that the city could now bill the man for the costs of the operation.
