Elisabeth Borne will go to Nièvre on Friday to talk about education

Elisabeth Borne had not been in the region for almost two months. The Prime Minister will travel to Nièvre on Friday to talk about education in rural areas, Matignon announced on Thursday. This is the Prime Minister’s first trip to the region since February 8. She then went to the North to discuss with employees on the pension reform.

In a context of political and social crisis around this disputed reform, Élisabeth Borne was asked by Emmanuel Macron to build a government program and a legislative program, and to this end this week initiated a series of political and trade union meetings with a view to “to appease the country”. These meetings aim to build majorities “text by text” and also to present “concrete results” in several areas, including education.

Replacements and remuneration of teachers

On education, the Prime Minister wishes for example “to keep the commitment from the start of the school year that each absence, including short-term, is replaced”. It remains to be seen whether she will discuss teacher compensation on Friday. At the beginning of March, the unions had left the negotiating table on the “pact” part of the increase in these remunerations, which provides for new missions, denouncing “an increase in the workload”.

Accompanied by the Minister of Education Pap Ndiaye and the Minister Delegate for Rurality Dominique Faure, the Prime Minister will discuss Friday with the pupils and teaching teams of the Albert Camus primary school and the Jean-Rostand college in La Machine “on issues of schooling and equal opportunities in rural areas”, specified its services. She will then attend an English course in co-teaching between college teachers and schools at Jean-Rostand College.

The head of government will then participate in Nevers in the municipal council for children (8-13 years old) and the municipal council for juniors (14-17 years old), who will inform her of their “proposals to improve the public service of education”. .
