Stadtwerke München (SWM) are increasing their prices significantly. From January 2023, electricity will be twice as expensive for consumers as before. It is the second piece of bad news in a short space of time: the utility had already announced in October that natural gas prices would rise sharply. The federal government’s planned gas and electricity price brake should dampen the increase – but probably only a little. Because energy costs are rising faster than such relief packages can be put together.
