Eight people indicted for drug trafficking

The so-called “place net” operation continues in Tonkin, a district of Villeurbanne, near Lyon. The three other people were placed under judicial supervision “along with a ban on appearing in the Tonkin district”, said the prosecution. In total, 30,000 euros, 90 grams of cocaine, 650 grams of cannabis resin, a firearm and ammunition were seized during this operation, detailed the same source.

Seven other people arrested during the week

During the week, following seven other arrests, a new person was indicted for “possession and transport” of drugs and an individual was directly sentenced to four months in prison as well as a ban on appearing in Villeurbanne. for a year, continued the Lyon public prosecutor.

Near Tonkin, in the Buers district, two individuals were also arrested for the same reasons. The police seized 43 kg of cannabis.

In the press release, the prosecution wished to “reaffirm its strong mobilization in the fight” against drug trafficking as well as “its determination to provide the strongest judicial responses”. Thus, he recalls that the number of immediate appearances for drug trafficking increased by 42% in 2022 and that twenty-two bans on appearing in the territory of Villeurbanne have been ordered since the start of 2023.
