The so-called Sphinx-Allee in Luxor, Egypt, was reopened with an elaborately staged celebration. The boulevard is located between the two temples of Karnak and Luxor. It is over 3,000 years old and the excavation work lasted more than 50 years. President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi also attended the solemn ceremony. The country hopes to attract tourists with its archaeological landmarks. Because Egypt’s tourism income has slumped from $ 13 billion in 2019 to around $ 4 billion in 2020.
