Federal Minister of Economics – this has been an almost legendary office in Germany for 70 years. No ministry is like this, none is so linked to the economic rise of the Federal Republic, and then again so powerless. For the men in office it was a matter of profession and calling, they experienced rise and fall, offered drama and boredom. (It was really always men, with the exception of Brigitte Zypries, who was in office for just over a year in 2017/2018 and hardly left any traces, and that would also be worth considering: Why always men?)
