Easter is quite early this year and temperatures could still rise sharply. However, the weather service is expecting storms and rain, especially in the north.

Easter is one hour shorter this year – due to the time change from Holy Saturday to Easter Sunday. And it falls quite early this year. In keeping with the start of April, the weather on the holidays will also be changeable.

On the one hand, it will be mild: South of the Danube, the German Weather Service (DWD) is predicting lots of sunshine for Good Friday. Temperatures can rise to more than 20 degrees in the foehn-filled edge of the Alps. In the northwest the temperatures rise to 10 to 15 degrees, in the southeast even to 14 to 19 degrees. In the regions from Saarland to the east it will remain slightly changeable with rain.

Sahara dust is announced for Holy Saturday – it clouds the sun, which, according to the DWD, only appears “milky”. A southerly to southwesterly flow brings mild to very mild air from the Mediterranean or North Africa. The maximum temperature values in Germany on Saturday are between 18 and 25 degrees. The foehn storm in the Alps continues. In the west and northwest, however, more clouds are gathering and it will remain rainy. On the night of Easter Sunday the temperatures drop to ten to four degrees.

Egg hunt indoors or outdoors? The weather becomes changeable

The weather will probably remain so changeable during the egg hunt on Easter Sunday. In the northwest, temperatures of a maximum of 12 to 16 degrees and rain can be expected. In the southeast half it will probably be a little sunnier and drier with temperatures between 17 and 22 degrees.

Easter will probably have to stay indoors on Monday. Significantly more rain is forecast across the country – albeit with mild temperatures between 12 and 17 degrees. At the edge of the Alps the foehn is collapsing and widespread showers of rain can be expected.

Overall, Easter will be changeable. The further south, the more beautiful it becomes. But there are bright spots of sunshine everywhere during the holidays – and at least no one has to freeze while hunting for eggs.
