It is not yet known who will replace Daniel Craig as “Agent 007”. A superstar has thrown his hat in the ring – after all, he has just had a mega-success as an agent in the action comedy “Red Notice”.

For Daniel Craig, “No Time to Die” was the last Bond film and it is not yet clear who will replace the smart Englishman in the role of “Agent 007”. Now someone else has expressed an interest in the role – and it’s none other than Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. He was recently named the best paid actor in the world for the second time in a row. For his Netflix hit “Red Notice” alone, he is said to have received an unbelievable fee of $ 23.5 million. A role as James Bond would be the cherry on the cake of his career.

Even his grandfather starred in a Bond film

In a video for “Esquire”, Dwayne Johnson says that his grandfather was allowed to play in the famous “James Bond” series. Peter Maivia was also a wrestler and fought as a henchman in “James Bond 007 – You Only Live Twice” with the Bond legend Sean Connery. Johnson says in the interview that he would love to follow in grandfather’s footsteps – but only as an agent. “I’m not going to play a villain,” said the actor, and added: “It has to be Bond.”

But shortly afterwards, the 49-year-old starts grinning. So it could be that the “Red Notice” star allowed himself a little joke here. It is more than unlikely that Johnson will actually play the next James Bond. Because traditionally the role is only filled with British people and age is likely to get in Johnson’s way. In addition, he already has his own image that would not fit the role.

Potential “James Bond” candidates

The “Bond” producer Barbara Broccoli announced that the new “007” actor should be known as early as 2022. Hot contenders are currently Idris Elba, the Marvel stars Tom Hardy and Tom Hiddleston, Henry Cavill, Luke Evans, James Norton and “Bridgerton” newcomer Regé-Jean Page. What Broccoli has clearly ruled out, however: As long as she is in charge, the next Bond will definitely not be a woman.
