Duchess Meghan turns 42 on August 4th. She has had another turbulent year that has seen her become even more marginalised.

If everything had gone well, would Duchess Meghan will probably celebrate her 42nd birthday with the royal family today and be congratulated by the enthusiastic British people. But as is well known, many things have happened – and the rift between the Sussexes and the royal family is deeper than ever after the events of the past year.

Many Britons are finally fed up with the American. And so Meghan will probably spend her day of honor in a small circle with husband Prince Harry (38) and their children Archie (4) and Lilibet (2). Her birthday is also overshadowed by – again – a lot of negative headlines. Rumors of separation and wild relocation plans can be read in the American and British media. The question also arises as to how Meghan and Harry will continue professionally.

Is Meghan’s biography still to come?

It was only announced in June that the collaboration with Spotify would end. Accordingly, there will be no second season of Meghan’s podcast “Archetypes”. Another Netflix production by the couple is also said to be on hold due to the Hollywood strike. Is the supposedly targeted media empire faltering? Some projects have appeared since moving to the United States in early 2020 – including Harry’s autobiography (“Reserve”), a children’s book by Meghan (“The Bench”) and the Netflix documentary series “Harry & Meghan”. But how can Harry and Meghan continue now that they have obviously already told their most interesting stories about the royal family? At the beginning of the year, the “Mail on Sunday” said that the Duchess was also planning a tell-all book from her point of view after her husband.

So does the royal family have to tremble before further attacks? With a biography of Meghan, a reconciliation would probably be even more unlikely. Since the documentary in December and especially since Harry’s autobiography in January, the rift seems insurmountable.

The new king certainly sent conciliatory signals. Charles III (74) mentioned the couple in his inaugural speech, invited her to the coronation on May 6, 2023 and toasted Archie, who turned four on the very day. But Meghan, who came to the funeral service for Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022) on September 19, 2022, stayed with the children in their new home in Montecito. It’s anyone’s guess when she and Harry will ever travel to the UK together again. In June they had their last belongings cleared out of Frogmore Cottage and handed in the keys. They have finally broken up their tents in Great Britain three years after the so-called Megxit.

Survey shows seven out of ten Brits think negatively of them

The former “Suits” actress is unlikely to move to her husband’s homeland. In addition to the tensions with the family by marriage, there are also problems with the people. Because the Duchess has fallen deeply. At the beginning, the hearts of many Britons flew to her, she was celebrated as a beacon of hope and a breath of fresh air for the monarchy. But now the 42-year-old is more unpopular than ever. The ever new revelations about the royal family were not well received. As the tabloid “Daily Mail” reported in June, citing a survey, seven out of ten Britons have a negative attitude towards her. Meghan’s popularity with the public has fallen to a record low of -47. That’s the lowest level since YouGov began tracking Meghan’s numbers in 2017.

William and Kate (41) congratulated their sister-in-law on their Instagram account for their 41st birthday. “We wish the Duchess of Sussex a happy birthday!” Was read in a story about a portrait photo of the jubilarian. It showed her at the Queen’s 70th Jubilee memorial service in early June 2022 at London’s St Paul’s Cathedral. A few minutes later, Charles and Camilla (75) also joined the congratulations. They also posted a photo from the London event against a green background and captioned it, “Happy Birthday The Duchess of Sussex!” However, these public congratulations could not change the fact that the relationship has deteriorated again since the Queen’s death on September 8, 2022.

Instead of the UK, however, the couple will soon be in Germany. Because from September 9th to 16th the Invictus Games, founded by Harry, will take place in Düsseldorf. As a spokesman for the project team confirmed to spot on news, both are expected to attend the sporting event for war-disabled soldiers. The couple in North Rhine-Westphalia may even be celebrating the prince’s birthday: he will be 39 on September 15.
