Is Duchess Meghan planning an Instagram comeback? At least that’s what Prince Harry’s wife suggests in an interview.

Is Duchess Meghan (41) returning to Instagram? Prince Harry’s (37) wife has been withdrawing from the platform for years – partly because of bullying. But now she quit with “bright and devilish eyes” all in one Interview with the New York magazine “The Cut” to: “I’ll be back… on Instagram.”

Duchess Meghan loved Instagram

But royal fans should still rein in their friends. Because author Allison P. Davis explained later in the article that Duchess Meghan said she was “not sure anymore if she would actually return to Instagram”. The Duchess of Sussex was forced to relinquish control of her social media account following her engagement to Prince Harry in 2017.

She loved sharing her life with others, the Duchess said in an interview. But she loves Harry more. “It was a big transition – a huge transition to go from that kind of autonomy to a different life,” the former actress told the magazine.

Problems with the royal Instagram rules

Duchess Meghan was allowed to join Prince Harry, his brother Prince William (40) and his wife, Duchess Kate (40), on the existing “KensingtonRoyal” account. But she had no control over that. “There is literally a structure where if you as a member of the family want to publish photos of your child, you first have to pass them on to the Royal Rota, the UK media pool,” Duchess Meghan said.

The photos would only be published in the media before she could post them herself. But as has been known for a long time, Duchess Meghan does not have a particularly good relationship with the British press. That’s why the concept didn’t go down too well with her. “Why should I give a picture of my child to the people who use the N-word at my children before I can share it with the people who love my child?” she asked in the interview.

Bullying as a reason for the social media off

Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan ran their own Instagram account “SussexRoyal” from April 2019. Shortly after officially stepping back from royal duties, Harry and Meghan announced in 2020, put the profile on hold. Since then, no new posts have appeared. In an interview with “Fortune” The Duchess later explained that the constant bullying had become too much for her. “I made a personal choice not to have an account,” she said.

Speaking to Fast Company in 2021, Prince Harry announced: “We will revisit social media when it feels right for us – perhaps when we see more meaningful commitments to change or reform.”
